Alabama bill makes illegal gambling Task Force, illegal.

The special task force that Alabama Governor Bob Riley has appointed to tackle illegal gambling has become subject of a bill that was approved for a hearing in the Senate. If the bill would pass Senate, then the task force will be more illegal than the gambling itself.

The bill was approved yesterday by the state Senate Judicial Commission, and will be heard in the Senate. If the bill passes, then the law will prohibit the governor to start or lead civil or criminal judicial proceedings or investigations. The legal power to monitor and investigate all state matters would be placed in the hands of the Attorney General. Any lawsuit or legal action the task force started against illegal gambling would be declared invalid.

The current Attorney General Troy King has always resisted the incursions of Riley on casino gambling operators, he says that some provincial laws forms of gambling permits. King also supports a national measure that would generate revenue for Alabama, by taxing gambling.

Riley’s spokesman decried the proposal as an attempt to protect powerful vested interests, he said: “the law would basically end the criminal investigation of some very powerful and politically influential people in this state.” Unfortunately, the absence of such a law made sure that no proper investigation has been launched into Riley’s ties to casinos in Mississippi Choctaw.
