The Poker up for Africa at the 2009 World Championships of Poker is a great succes. The buzz Surrounding the table was great and alot of media was interested in the spectacle. The media where looking for the many celeb poker players that are playing in the field.
The Hosting is provided bij Annie Duke and Actor Don Cheadle and they saw the biggest turnout in numbers ever. The Ante Up for Africa at the WSOP 2009 attracted 138 poker players from around the world.
The tournament has a buyin of 5k and that makes the total prizepool $670.680 and the first prize $177.730. Last year John Hennigan won the tournament. This year he is back for another titel or to at least defend his titel. Together with John Hennigan there are many more famous names like Ben Affleck, Matt Damon, Charles Barkley and Mike Tyson.
Besides all the celebs playing poker there are also alot of famous pokersplayers playing the event. Phil Hellmuth, Howard Lederer, Jennifer Harman, Mike Matusow, Mike Caro, Andy Bloch, Chris Ferguson and many more.
