WMS Gaming want to conquer online casino market

An American slot machine developer for land casinos has announced that they will launch an online gaming company focused on the UK market, in preparation for the opening of the market in other countries so they can do business there once things change.

WMS Gaming is licensed to sell their gaming machines in more than 300 jurisdictions worldwide, WMS Gaming is a subsidiary of WMS Industries, together with the Dutch Orion Gaming. The company will launch an online casino company focused on the UK market next year, with plans to expand into the French, Italian and Spanish markets as soon as legislation allows it. The company has already started looking for staff for the English internet casino company. Brian Morgan, director of online gaming in WMS Gaming said in an interview: “We are the leaders in casino innovation and we want to leverage that insight online. We will only trade in markets where online gambling is expressly legal, but there is plenty on our radar and we will expand market by market.”

WMS is looking for a location in central London, and is in the process of interviewing about 25 British workers for the launch of the company, including marketing managers, customer service and technical operations. WMS has offices in Uxbridge near London, but also in Australia, Canada, South Africa and Spain in addition to their 2 U.S. bases. WMS President and Director Brian Gamache said in a statement: “WMS will debut its capabilities and solutions that harness the scale of the Internet to pursue online betting opportunities in the United Kingdom. This initiative is expected to launch in fiscal year 2011, subject to regulatory approval, we look forward to expanding our presence in the UK marketplace.”
